The company said that the Instagram community in India has shown its inclination towards portraying cultural nuances using the power of the mobile app.
Instagram will hold its first ever photography exhibition in India on 7th January 2016, Thursday, where photos generated from the photo and video sharing app will be displayed.
The social media app, owned by Facebook, will put on display community-generated Instagram posts around the theme ‘Celebrating Diversity of Bengal’ at the Indian Council For Cultural Relations (ICCR) gallery in Kolkata(Bengal).
The community-centric photo exhibition will feature a combination of images covering festivals of West Bengal and images from the local Instagram community capturing the diversity of the state in the landscape, people, food, wildlife, architecture, etc.
“People today are finding their visual voice through the images we capture and share with others, each image telling a story about what we are experiencing. Images are universal. They transcend language and cultural barriers,” a statement from the company said.
